Lisbon

Praia Nova Vaga is one of the great beginner spots along the Costa da Caparica south of Lisbon. It is a long sandy beach and wind is usually consistent and there are no hazards. The shore break can be challenging at times for beginners but it is a reasonable one. The local kitesurf school is Boarder Club Portugal.

Praia dos Moinhos, in Alcochete, is located across the Tagus river opposite of Lisbon. It's fluvial beach is suitable to learn with some guidance and equipment as there are lots of oysters by lower tides. Antonio of Alkitesurf is an excellent and friendly instructor.

Algarve

Cabanas de Tavira, is blessed with a large sandy beach, very steady wind, and very small shore break. The conditions are ideal for beginners and intermediates.  Plus, Sandra and her team in Kitesurf Eolis are excellent and certified IKO instructors.
