Praia Bela Vista

Costa da Caparica, one of the great spots

Posted  on January 29th, 2021

Praia Bela Vista is one of the three kitesurf spots along the Costa da Caparica south of Lisbon. It is located on a long sandy beach and wind is usually consistent and lifts very well. It is a 30 minutes drive across the Ponte 25 de Abril. The sand beach is easy to access and there are no rock hazards. The spot works with North west. Avoid it with North, North-east, usually the wind does not get in.

The beach is just a few 100 meters south of Praia Nova Vaga and it is north of a naturist beach and you will have a bit more space compared to Praia Nova Vaga.

Praia Bela Vista works all year and the water temperature is cold: a full body wetsuit is recommended.

Best wind conditions are West and North West winds.

Usually the wind lifts really well, it is a nice spot for big air.

There is a Windguru live station indicating wind conditions in Fonte da Telha: station 464.

Note that the wind is usually less strong than in Fonte da Telha, but Fonte da Telha, especially in summer, is a nightmare to park.

There are two kiteschools on Praia Bela Vista: Waves4Life and Katavento.

Access to the beach is easy from the parking location.

There are no showers available.

There are lifeguards on the beach during summer.

During summer, the lifeguards will whistle at you if you get out of the restricted kitesurf zone and get too close to swimmers.
